The YWCA of Warren will host “Bridging the Gap”

w        On Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. the YWCA of Warren will host “Bridging the Gap” in an effort to continue to close the communication gap between law enforcement officers and community members

This workshop is a follow-up event to the first meeting that occurred on Tuesday, October 16, 2007.  It is a collaborative effort between the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Warren-Trumbull County NAACP, Inspiring Minds, the Warren City Police Department, and other local police departments.

The workshop goal is to give community members a better understanding of the law enforcement perspective and to give law enforcement officers a better understanding of the community perspective.

The meeting on May 20th will talk in depth about the two major factors causing the breach between law enforcement and the community, perceptions and miscommunication.  We will talk about trust, sensitivity, professionalism, and understanding as we interact with each other during stops and searches.  There will be videos, role playing and a question and answer period.  Please join us as we host this community interactive event!
