Inspiring Minds Joins the YWCA of Warren’s Recreation
Center!
“The Y.O.U Program will make an
impact on our youth by giving them an opportunity to experience new things.
We want to provide educational, recreational and social challenges to
force our students to think outside the box.”
Deryck Toles, Founder

The YWCA of Warren began an after school recreation and academic
help center on March 11, 2008. The program runs every Tuesday
and Thursday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and is
open to students in grades six through twelve. The cost of the
program is $10.00 per month or $2.00 per visit.
The YWCA of Warren collaborated
with Inspiring Minds, a local non-profit organization, in an effort
to create a safe place for youth in the community. The YWCA of
Warren and Inspiring Minds together believe that nothing is more
essential to the revitalization of this community than to provide
for the well being of local youth. As future leaders in the
community, we are actively working to provide children with a
positive and safe place to interact with peers and take part in a
variety of activities including arts and crafts, dance and other
creative activities, as well as access to athletic equipment, a
gymnasium, an arcade and a full study lounge with computers. As
well, the students are exposed to speakers, volunteers and other
adult role models who help to develop and enhance their leadership
skills.
The students who participate in the
recreation center become members of the Y.O.U. Program (Youth
Obtaining the Unimaginable) upon joining. The goal of the Y.O.U.
program is for students to not only develop self-esteem and
confidence, but to also learn how to make responsible choices and
the importance of accountability for their actions and decisions.
We emphasize to the youth that they have the power within them to
make healthy choices that will ensure a bright and successful
future!
