YW-Teens
w
The YW-Teens is a group of young girls ages 11-18, who come
together to develop new friendships and cultivate their personal
character and self-esteem. It’s at these meetings that the YWCA
mission of empowering young ladies and eliminating racism is
fostered. The group is open to all Trumbull County middle and high
school girls.
Our year began with a leadership
project with the girls collecting cans of food for the Warren Family
Mission. As well, the girls provided community service by baking
holiday cookies and then gifting them to a women’s shelter. Some
other social activities that the girls participated in were ice
skating in downtown Warren, a Valentine’s Day Love Yourself Party,
Hip Hop Bingo, a Family Movie Night, Yoga, crocheting for “Warm Up
America”, a Line Dance Bash, and gardening with Master Gardeners.
Upcoming activities include: Thursday, May 8, 2008 – Examining
healthy relationship scenarios and Book Club Thursday, May 22, 2008
- Tae bo; Friday, May 23, 2008 - Girls Night Out at Avalon Inn
The YW-Teens meet on the 2nd
and 4th Thursday of the month from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
