YWCA Warren Girls’ Camp is a summer program geared toward girls ages 11 to 14 who are entering sixth, seventh, eighth, or ninth grade. Girls’ Camp aims to address the gender gap in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Girls’ Camp provides resources and workshops that work with girls to engage their interest in STEM fields and keep them interested for future STEM careers.
Another portion of Girls’ Camp focuses on youth expression through Girl’s Circle curriculum. The girls will be exposed to art, lessons, activities, and discussions with focus on important areas of self-development for young girls.
Our mission through Girls’ Camp is to encourage girls to explore STEM-related careers, increase their chances of academic success, and be healthier and more self-assure and confident.
In the past, girls participating in Girls’ Camp have gone on field trips to the Great Lakes Science Center, Youngstown State University Challenge Course, Butler Museum of Art, Mill Creek Park, Harding High School, and Perkins Park. We have partnered with Community Solutions, Girl Scouts Robotics Program, and Girlz Rock, a music camp operated by Girlz Voices.
