T.E.A.M. (Teaching, Educating, Advising, Mentoring) Mentoring Program
The YWCA Warren in partnership with Warren City Schools will provide the T.E.A.M. Mentoring Program for youth in Warren. This program offers teacher driven academic intervention, social skill development and cultural diversity exposure to at-risk 4th grade students through weekly after school peer-to-peer mentoring sessions using 10-12 grade students from Harding High School and 8th grade students from Lincoln K-8 School as mentors.
The primary objective of TEAM Mentoring is to provide academic intervention, along with fun activities and positive peer mentoring opportunities for the youth in Warren City Schools. At the mentor level, the objective is to provide valuable training on working with and understanding the development of elementary age children, learning how to resist negative pressures and effective ways to model positive behavior, and more importantly allowing mentors to feel the benefit of giving back to their community. At the elementary level, the objective is to provide at-risk children with weekly academic intervention, along with safe and enjoyable after school activities facilitated through healthy, mentor-mentee relationships.
